Learn More About Our Book Crowdfunding Model

What do I have to offer in a crowdfunding campaign?

Often, when we think about writing a book, everything we imagine is a unique product. We have a single story with a fixed number of chapters and rewards. They are what we intend to offer to everyone.

So, how can we do it differently to get more significant contributions in crowdfunding campaigns?
You have to think outside the box, but you don’t have to go that far. It is easy to imagine different benefits when it comes to a non-fiction work or an illustrated book.
You can offer an extra chapter with new information and or exclusive gear separately. But even if this is not your case, there is always a solution.

Here are some of the frequently asked questions about our exclusive Model of Book Crowdfunding

1. General Conditions For Publication

Can I publish in other countries?
Yes, but now, we only distribute in other Countries (and language different from English) through the iBook versions.

What is the profile of your authors?
Our goal is to make spiritual stories known, no matter who is behind them. The only criteria we pursue are quality and commitment to our community of collaborators and patrons (book fans).

 What topics do you cover?

We are interested in all kinds of books that present interesting questions or aspects of Spirituality and other Conscious themes. We also publish novels, chapbooks, memoirs, and anthologies. You can look at our catalog.

If I already have a published book, can I still publish with iSpirit Publishing?
If you have not signed an exclusive contract with another publisher, there is no problem.

Do you publish all the projects you receive?
No. Our editorial committee studies all the proposals received and then selects the most exciting projects aligned with our Editorial Guidelines and Themes.

What selection criteria do you use?
We only publish those titles that comply with our quality principles. We look at the style, correctness, and seriousness of the proposed project and the relevance of the approach or the theme raised. In this sense, we advise you to detail the project well and provide as much information as possible when submitting the proposal.

How long does it take you to give an answer?
Due to the number of submissions we receive, we are unable to reply immediately. Our minimum deadline is 72 hours, and we promise to respond within approximately 2-3 weeks.

How much does it cost to publish with iSpirit Publishing?

The costs derived from the publication of the book are covered thanks to our crowdfunding campaigns. For this reason, books that do not get sufficient support cannot be published.

What royalties correspond to the author?
Crowdfunding campaigns do not generate any profit for the author. They are the requirement for the publication of the book if you wish to receive help with the publishing costs: they ensure the publication costs and avoid the author having to bear any cost. The more successful the crowdfunding campaign, the better the marketing afterward and, therefore, the higher the profits.

Do you take care of the ISBN registration?
Yes, we register the books with a unique number for the books that want to be marketed. If you are doing the Assisted Publishing, you may choose to acquire the ISBN number with us or not.

Do you require an exclusivity contract?
No.

How long does it take from the end of a campaign until the book is published?
It depends. Some publications take longer than others. The publishing process encompasses proofreading, layout, design, printing, promotion strategy, and distribution. It is a process that can last from 3 to 6 months.

2.How to Define your Editorial Project

What do I have to do to present my project?
You can send us your project through our form. There you can include all the details of your proposal, upload documents, specify the duration of your campaign or define your rewards.

Do I have to have finished the book?
No, but it would be preferable to have a clear idea of the book’s content before starting a campaign. The time limit you have is 6 months from the end of the campaign, but we advise you to deliver it within 3 months and keep your patrons informed about the book’s progress.

What is the campaign system, how does iCrowdfund.org work?
It is a 120-day period in which the author makes his project known and tries to get all the necessary support for its publication.

Is it mandatory to make a promotional video?
Yes. Video is a great tool to publicize your project. Video campaigns tend to attract readers’ attention more quickly since they provide direct information about who you are, what you want to do, and how you want to achieve it. In the case of Videos, the more, the merrier.

Do I have to submit a sample chapter?
We order at least three pages in advance. It doesn’t matter if they are the first three, but they have to be the book’s actual content, not a summary or table of contents. If you have the finished book, you can send it directly.

In what languages do you publish?

We are a publishing house that publishes books in the United States. We have specialized proofreaders in the different regional variants of the language throughout the world, and especially the American continent, from Argentina to the United States.

Do I have to do the design and editing of the book?
No. We have a team of professionals from the publishing sector in charge of the cover design, editing, proofreading, layout, and even illustration of the book (if it is the case).

How are the rewards for the Sponsors (patrons) established?
The rewards are gifts with which the authors appreciate the support of the patrons. They usually include a copy of the book on paper or in electronic format. Still, they can also have other objects such as posters, plates, buttons, and mentions on the book and publicity campaigns as Sponsors.
The publisher and the author decide their content if there is a limited number of unique rewards. In all cases, the patron’s name will appear in both the physical and digital books.

3. Technical aspects: printing and distribution

In what formats do you publish electronic books (eBooks)?
Our books are available in various formats. You can download the eBooks in ePub, Mobi, or in digital PDF.

How many copies on paper do you print?

We estimate based on two factors: the number of paper books requested by patrons and the total number of supports. For example, if a book has gotten more support than the goal initially set, we could print more copies to achieve better distribution in bookstores. We print runs ranging from 100 copies to 1,000 in first editions; the figure will vary depending on the campaign’s success.

In which countries do you distribute the books?
At the moment, only in the United States for the paper format. In digital, we do it worldwide, including Amazon, 24symbols, iBookstore, Barnes & Noble, or Kobo and Smashwords.

Can I distribute the book on my own?
No, unless you are doing the Assisted Publishing modality with us. We take care of the distribution with IPG and online. If a campaign exceeds initial expectations, we ensure a distribution with a more significant impact.
